Ade Ayeyemi, CEO of the leading Pan-African Banking Group, Ecobank Group met with his Excellency Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi. The courtesy visit was aimed at reaffirming Ecobank’s commitment to supporting Malawi’s economic growth and the government’s COVID-19 Socio-Economic Recovery Plan.
With its pan-African unique footprint, Ecobank is well positioned to support Malawi in seizing the immense opportunities and benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area. This aligns with the vision of His Excellency Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera who voiced the need for all African countries to remove the obstacles to free trade on the continent, at last November’s Intra-African Trade Fair.
Ecobank Malawi, a member of the pan African banking Group, has been operating in Malawi since August 2008 and continues to lend support to the country’s key strategic sectors including energy and agriculture. The bank has been active in providing financing for strategic commodities and supporting other structured credits towards realizing the government’s development plans.
