Ecobank operates in 32 sub-Saharan African countries and maintains a presence in France, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and China to support the international business of its clients.

The Group employs over 14,000 people and serves more than 32 million customers, delivering Consumer, Commercial, Corporate and Investment Banking products and services through multiple channels, including digital platforms.


Business Segments

The Ecobank Group is a full-service banking group focused on Middle Africa. It provides wholesale, retail, investment and transactional banking services to individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), local corporates, multinationals, governments and financial institutions.

We deliver our services through three customer-focused business segments: Consumer Banking, Commercial Banking and Corporate and Investment Banking. An Integrated information technology platform operated by eProcess, the group’s Accra-based technology subsidiary, supports the three business segments.

Commercial & Consumer Banking (CCB)

Serving households and SMEs at scale

Ecobank’s Commercial and Consumer Banking brings banking closer to people and businesses across our footprint, through branches, ATMs, Xpress Point agents and digital channels. We focus on building primary banking relationships and helping customers manage day-to-day money needs simply, safely and reliably.

  • • Consumer Banking supports Mass and Emerging Affluent customers with payments, savings, cards, lending, bancassurance and wealth solutions, delivered through mobile, online, ATMs, branches and agency banking.

  • • Commercial Banking supports micro, small and medium-sized businesses, local corporates and specialised segments with working capital, trade finance, collections, payroll, merchant services and advisory, helping SMEs grow, formalise and access wider markets.

We are also bringing our Consumer and Commercial teams closer, so we can serve customers better, grow the share of their business with us, and build long-term value.

Personal Banking

Personal Banking focuses on premier and advantage customers with moderate to high-net-worth revenues, while Direct Banking focuses on the mass market and youth. Through these sub-segments, customers are served through Ecobank’s footprint in Africa, leveraging digital, branch and agency channels to provide convenient and cost-effective consumer financial services.

Commercial Banking’s core objective is to be the partner of choice for local enterprises and entrepreneurs in Africa. Our commitment to the financial success of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) is underpinned by Ecobank Group’s vision to contribute to the economic development and financial integration of Africa.

For SMEs, despite employing millions of Africans, weak corporate governance structures, inability to forecast cash flows and lack of collateral to access finance can affect their growth. Ecobank aims to contribute to their financial success and promote sustainable growth through the provision of finance and capacity building, by listening, advising and serving them in innovative ways.

Our Corporate and Investment Banking delivers value to our diverse clientele across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. We have developed strong partnerships with our clients, reflected in a large portfolio of complex cross-border transactions across multiple industries and products. Leveraging on world-class technology, we provide effective working capital management and banking solutions to our clients in various markets and in multiple currencies.

Driving intra-African trade remains an important strategic focus. We have a digital payments platform covering our footprint. This and other initiatives are key drivers that have enabled us to position CIB as the trade bank of choice in our key markets, providing solutions working with our international offices in Dubai, Johannesburg, Paris and Beijing.

The Ecobank Foundation was created to help in positively transforming the lives of people across Africa. It does this by deploying the Ecobank Group’s resources, knowledge and expertise with the aim of unlocking opportunities for the African communities in which we operate.
